Terminology Guide

Cut through the jargon with our helpful terminology guide.

Paving is cut to the same depth give or take 1 to 2mm tolerance (easy lay)

Surface of the slab has been flamed with a torch to give a light textured finish

Paving is cut by hand, will be different depths all over (within 5 – 10mm), sides and surface will be Riven

Flat, smooth, polished face, machine cut

Natural, textured, slightly uneven

Flat surface with a dimpled texture

All sides of the paving machine cut
