What should you expect from all of our Natural Paving

Efflorescence

Natural salt formations within the rock that will expose to the surface over time and produce a powder-like substance that can be removed from the slabs.

Iron Imperfections

Orange staining can appear on a stone where Iron is present. The can naturally be cause by the stone itself. Most natural stones contain Iron naturally and stone can weather over time to reveal these orange marks.

Surface Imperfections

These can appear in the form of small brown marks or pits on the surface of the stone. Some sections of stone may never reveal an imperfection, whilst others can weather and reveal themselves after days, months or years.

Weathering

This is something that cannot be prevented. As the stone is exposed to the elements, over time it will weather and it can change appearance. Most natural stone can be expected to change/fade in colour slightly.

Reflective Staining

It is important on porous natural stone to use a product called SBR on the underside of the paving before installation. This will form a barrier between the stone and the base to prevent the stones from absorbing moisture from the cement and causing reflective/mirror staining on the surface.

Tolerance

Although most of our natural stone range is calibrated, we ask for you to allow a 1-2mm (+/-) tolerance. This does not compromise the quality or impact the installation process.

Colour Variation

Natural Stone is manufactured from large sections of the rock face and as such contains a variety of naturally occurring minerals.

ย

These minerals produce colour variations within the stone and depending upon where the stone is quarried, these may be strong, bold colours with a broad range of shades or more of a subtle mix of tones with light variation between individual paving slabs.

ย

The names of products are sometimes an indication of the colours to be seen within the paving slabs, but unlike concrete or porcelain paving, all natural stone will include a selection of shades, textures and unique veining.
